Where can I find you at upcoming in-person shows?
Check the banner on our website for our most up-to-date schedule of in-person shows, markets, and art festivals.
We also keep a pinned post and a “Shows” highlight on our Instagram account with event links for details like addresses, parking info, and hours.
Our newsletter always lists upcoming appearances too.
How do I know if an item will be restocked?
Most pieces are one-of-a-kind and may not return once sold. While we occasionally restock favorites, designs change seasonally based on plants in bloom and the vintage textiles or lace we’re inspired by.
If you love something, we recommend grabbing it while it’s available!
Alternately, you can always commission a specific piece you want recreated.
How does the commission process work?
Commission orders are an opportunity to create custom clay pieces that tell your unique story. You can use your own fabric materials, favorite plants or flowers, choose your colors, and engrave meaningful phrases or dates on your piece(s).
Our process includes booking a call with Doreen to finalize the design and a $50 deposit that goes toward the cost of your final piece. Commissions take a minimum of 8 weeks to complete and have a $100 minimum.

Can I provide my own materials for a commission?
Yes! Many clients send fabrics (like a wedding dress) or special textiles. All fabric materials are returned to you.
Plants used in the clay are not returned, as they’re incorporated into the piece.
If you ship materials to us, we cover the return shipping.
Clay won’t ruin clothing and typically washes out with a cold rinse.
Where are you based?
Our studio is in Durham, North Carolina.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes! We offer curbside pickup or pickup at the Durham Farmers Market.
Are your ceramics food safe?
Absolutely. All pieces are dishwasher- and microwave-safe.
We use glazes, clay, and firing temperatures specifically chosen for food safety.
How long does shipping take?
Orders ship via USPS within 1–2 weeks. Please note that USPS can experience delays during the holidays.
What if my piece arrives broken during shipping?
We take extra precautions to prevent breakage, including extra bubble wrap on all items.
If your order arrives broken in shipping, we can remake the piece for you at no additional cost.
Please email us at doreen@dooraceramics.com with a photo of the broken item inside the box within 7 days of delivery to qualify for a remake.
What if I break my piece after buying it?
- Accidents happen, we’re so sorry! For small repairs (like a handle), we recommend E6000 glue, available at craft or hardware stores.
- If you’re local to Durham, we can attempt a repair or reglaze (results not guaranteed). Come talk to us at the Durham Farmers Market to see what we can do.
- If you decide you want a remake, we can remake the piece as a custom commission and will honor the original price, just go through the commission process for this option.
